General Prosecution, Conference on Justice Day
General Prosecutors of the last 20 years, as well as the Chairman of the Supreme Court discussed today on challenges of prosecution towards European integration.
The conference carried out in the frame of the 100th anniversary of Justice in Albania united for the first time leaders of the Prosecution in a study panel, presenting dynamics and priorities aiming at strengthening of the institution in representing the accusation in court on behalf of the state.
In the opening speech, the general prosecutor, Mr. Adriatik Llalla said that this meeting was organized “so that general prosecutors over the years are assembled along with the heads of the justice system to exchange ideas on challenges of the prosecution body in the EU integration process”.
Furthermore, Mr. Llalla pointed out that “Albanian prosecution, as an integral part of the justice system, has been and will continue to be a key element in the integration process. Therefore, the strengthening of the role of this institution is considered to be of vital importance, combining the most important achievements over the years with the challenges lying ahead”.
Chairman of the Supreme Court Mr. Xhezair Zaganjori, as well as some of the prosecution’s heads over the years took the floor during the meeting.
Mr. Zaganjori discussed on “Role and responsibilities of the prosecutors in protecting human rights and freedoms”.
Mr. Maksim Haxhia, General Prosecutor in 1992, currently Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates discussed on “Position of the Prosecutor in the civil society and its role in relation to the other relevant subjects”.
Mr. Arben Rakipi, General Prosecutor in the 1997-2002 period referred on the topic “Ethical standards for prosecutors – how to ensure integrity towards a European prosecution”.
Mrs. Ina Rama, General Prosecutor in the 2007-2012 period presented some ideas on “Functional guarantees of prosecutors”

Mr. Alush Dragoshi, General Prosecutor in the 1992-1996 period also hailed participants of the meeting.
