Mr. THOMA JANO IS APPOINTED DEPUTY GENERAL PROSECUTOR

Pursuant to the Decision no. 218, dated 23.12.2019 of the General Prosecutor and in accordance with the article 148 / b, letter "dh" of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and article 39 point 6 of law no. 97/2016, "On the organization and the functioning of the Prosecution in the Republic of Albania", the procedure for the election of the Deputy General Prosecutor was carried out after the end of the 2-year mandate of Mr. Thoma Jano, who held this position during the period from 30.12.2019 until 30.12.2021.

After the General Prosecutor announced the call for the expression of interest for the position of the Deputy General Prosecutor, the candidacy of Mr. Jano was voted unanimously for the position of the Deputy General Prosecutor in the meeting of the prosecutors of the General Prosecution held on December 17, 2021. Mr. Jano is appointed Deputy General Prosecutor by decision no. 132, dated 30.12.2021 of the General Prosecutor.
 
The Deputy General Prosecutor is elected from the ranks of the prosecutors of the General Prosecution and must have at least 10 years of experience as a prosecutor in the General Prosecution. Mr. Jano was the only candidate who expressed the interest.
