Based on Korça Prosecution’s request, 19 individuals have been suspended from duty on charges of “Abuse of Office” and 'Passive Corruption by Persons Exercising Public Functions.' Among them, 17 are state police officers and two working in the finance sector at the Border Police station in Kapshticë. Additionally, two representatives of commercial entities are under investigation for the criminal offense of “Falsification of Documents”.

The two-year investigations conducted within criminal case No. 32 of 2022 by Korça Prosecution Office revealed that the police officers, tasked with accompanying personnel from other countries' police forces as part of FRONTEX green border security operations, have falsified tax invoices related to accommodation and meals".

Investigations unveiled that due to insufficient documentation, certain personnel involved in the FRONTEX operation were wrongly reimbursed a total of 574,320 euros. Of this sum, 452,480 euros were disbursed to personnel from other designated units as ordered by the General Director of the State Police, while 121,280 euros to personnel from Korça Border and Migration Police Regional Directorate. Through fictitious invoices, aided by commercial entities, they have benefited even though most of them, were deployed at FRONTEX and accommodated in rented houses costing no more than 200 Euros per month for 3-4 residents, or were residents in Devoll Municipality.

The Court, upon Korça Prosecution’s request, decided the following measures:

•    E.M., Finance Specialist in the Finance and Support Services Sector of the Border and Migration Department, security measure “Suspension from carrying out a public duty or service” for the criminal offense of “Abuse of Office”;
•    E.S., service member and system operator for cameras, is to be suspended from public service duties pending trial for the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty."
