EU4FOCAL organises a high-level round table between Albanian and European Public Prosecutors

A round table with representatives of the Albanian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO), District Prosecutor's Offices, the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPO) and the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) took place on 19th of April at the Rogner Hotel at 09:00 AM. 
The aim of the activity is to raise the awareness of the Albanian prosecutors about the mandate, work of the European Public Prosecutor´s Office, as well as to foster a stronger collaborative and cooperative coordination among the Albanian GPO, Special Prosecutor´s Office and the EPPO. Specifically, it promotes the effective implementation of the working agreement already signed between the Albanian GPO and EPPO. 
Two European Prosecutors, Tamara Laptos and Concepción Sabadell, and 20 prosecutors from the GPO, district prosecutor´s offices and SPAK participated in the round table. 

The roundtable is organised in the framework of the EU4FOCAL project, “Fight Against Organised Crime in Albania through Criminal and Financial Investigation", an EU-funded project implemented by the FIIAPP foundation under the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU. These include several types of fraud: VAT fraud with damages above 10 million euros, money laundering, corruption, etc.1 The EPPO has established privileged partnerships with other EU institutions, bodies and agencies, as well as with third countries, such us the Albanian General Prosecutor´s Office.
