General Prosecutor Olsian Çela and Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tirana, Ms. Giulia Re, discussed today issues pertaining to the safety of journalists, emphasizing the strengthening of institutional capacities in investigating these cases.
During the meeting, the General Prosecutor emphasized the increased institutional commitment of the prosecution in this regard, highlighting it as a priority in their work.

The Head of the Council of Europe Office expressed the willingness to continue supporting the prosecution in further training of prosecutors and judicial police officers, with regard to freedom of expression and the safety of journalists, as activities organized within the framework of the joint project between the European Union and the Council of Europe “Protecting freedom of expression and of the media in Albania”.
At the meeting, they agreed on the necessity to enhance coordination and cooperation between the parties in the future.
